All students from Class 1-12 can appear for IMO Level 1
All questions are in the MCQ pattern.
The question paper of IMO Classes 1- 4 consists of four sections of 35 questions carrying a total of 40 marks. Section 1 (Logical Reasoning) contains 10 questions carrying 1 mark each. Section 2 (Mathematical Reasoning) contains 10 questions that carry 1 mark each. Section 3 (Everyday Mathematics) contains 10 questions carrying 1 mark each. Section 4 (Achiever’s section) contains 5 questions carrying 2 marks each. There will be no negative marking. The total time allowed for the paper is 60 minutes.
The question paper of IMO Class 5- 12 consists of 4 sections of 50 questions carrying a total of 60 marks. Section 1 (Logical Reasoning) contains 15 questions carrying 1 mark each. Section 2 (Mathematical Reasoning) contains 20 questions carrying 1 mark each. Section 3 (Everyday Mathematics) contains 10 questions carrying 1 mark each. Section 4 (Achiever’s section) contains 5 questions carrying 3 marks each. There will be no negative marking. The total time allowed for the paper is 60 minutes.
Only students from Class 3-12 can appear for IMO Level 2
All questions are in the MCQ pattern. The question pattern for IMO Class 3&4 consists of two sections of 35 questions carrying total marks of 40.
Section 1 includes 30 questions from Mathematics carrying 1 mark each. Section 2 includes 5 questions from Achiever’s section carrying 2 marks each. There will be no negative marking.
The question pattern for IMO Class 5-12 consists of two sections of 50 questions carrying total marks of 60.
Section 1 includes 45 questions from Mathematics carrying 1 mark each. Section 2 includes 5 questions from Achiever’s section carrying 3 marks each. There will be no negative marking.
Stage 2 is the final Olympiad exam with +3 marking with -1 (Negative mark) for each question for classes 6 to 12, whereas Stage 2 for students from classes 3 to 5 has no negative marking, and carries 3 marks for each right answer.
All students studying in Class 1-12 are eligible to sit in IMO.
