Chapter 1 – Rational Numbers – Class – 8 – Notes

Rational numbers are numbers that are involved in many mathematical applications, such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication, and are inherently closed under many mathematical processes.

Chapter 2 – Linear Equations in One Variable – Class – 8 – Notes

Linear equations in one variable are equations where the expressions involved are made up of only one variable, and the highest power of the variable used is 1. The solution to such linear equations can be any rational number. These equations may consist of linear expressions on both sides of the equal sign.

Just like numbers, variables can also be transposed from one side of the equation to the other. The simplification of these equations, which are formed by expressions, can be done by bringing the equation into linear form through suitable techniques such as equating the expressions by multiplication. Linear equations find applications in various scenarios, including problems involving numbers, perimeter, ages, currency, and even algebra.

Chapter 3 – Understanding Quadrilaterals – Class – 8 – Notes

Quadrilaterals are polygons that have four sides, four vertices, four angles, and two diagonals. There are various types of quadrilaterals.

In Geometry, shapes or objects are classified based on the number of sides they have, such as:

Triangle (3 sides)

Quadrilateral (4 sides)

Pentagon (5 sides)

Hexagon (6 sides)

Heptagon (7 sides)

Octagon (8 sides), and so on.

Chapter 4 – Practical Geometry – Class – 8 – Notes

It is possible to construct a quadrilateral when its five measurements are determined, such as:

The length of the four sides and the length of its diagonal are known

The length of the three sides and the length of the two diagonals are known

If the three angles and two adjacent sides are given

If the three sides and two angles are given

Chapter 5 – Data Handling – Class – 8 – Notes

Data handling refers to the process of organizing the information provided in order to perform mathematical operations on them.

In statistics, “Data Handling” is an important concept that ensures the integrity of research data, as it addresses concerns such as security, confidentiality, and preservation of the research data.

In every field, we have information in the form of numerical figures, and each of these figures is known as an observation. The collection of all observations is generally called data. Statisticians use different data management methods to handle the data.

Chapter 6 – Squares and Square Roots – Class – 8 – Notes

The topic of Squares and Square Roots in Class 8 is explained by math experts in a simplified language and style, making it easy for students to understand and grasp the concepts quickly.

Chapter 7 – Cubes and Cube Roots  – Class – 8 – Notes

In Chapter 7, Cubes and Cube Roots Class 8, the concepts are presented in an easy-to-understand format, helping students to learn and remember the concepts effectively for their exams.

Chapter 8 – Comparing Quantities  – Class – 8 – Notes

The notes for Comparing Quantities Class 8, Chapter 8, have been carefully curated by experts to provide clear explanations of all the concepts covered in the chapter and allow students to practice problems efficiently.

Chapter 9 – Algebraic Expressions and Identities – Class – 8 – Notes

Algebraic Expressions and Identities are mathematical expressions that consist of variables, constants, and algebraic operations such as addition and subtraction. These expressions are composed of terms and are also referred to as algebraic equations.

Chapter 10 – Visualising Solid Shapes – Class – 8 – Notes

Visualising Solid Shapes is a chapter in geometry that explains 2D and 3D shapes, their properties, and characteristics such as angles, sides, length, height, width, area, and volume. These shapes have been taught since primary classes and have distinct patterns and properties.

Chapter 11 – Mensuration – Class – 8 – Notes

Mensuration is a mathematical branch that focuses on the study of geometric shapes, including their area, length, volume, and perimeters. It involves the application of algebraic equations and geometric calculations, resulting in accurate measurements.

Mensuration deals with the measurement of various parameters of geometric figures such as length, volume, shape, surface area, and lateral surface area.

Chapter 12 – Exponents and Powers – Class – 8 – Notes

Exponents and Powers Class 8, chapter 12, provide an effective study tool to enhance productivity and deepen understanding of the topics. In 8th grade, the concepts of exponents, powers, and their real-world applications are explained in a clear manner. This chapter helps students build a strong foundation in understanding and working with exponents and powers.

Chapter 13 – Direct and Inverse Proportions – Class – 8 – Notes

Direct proportionality occurs when two variables change in the same direction, i.e., as one quantity increases, the other quantity also increases at the same rate. In mathematical terms, two variables x and y are directly proportional if there is a non-zero constant k such that y = kx. The constant ratio k is referred to as the constant of proportionality or proportionality constant.

Chapter 14 – Factorisation – Class – 8 – Notes

Factorisation involves expressing an expression as the product of its factors, which can be algebraic expressions, variables, or numbers. Factors of a number or expression are those numbers or algebraic expressions that evenly divide the given number or expression. Factors are the numbers that multiply to yield the given number.

For example, 1, 3, and 9 are the factors of 9, because 1 × 9 = 9 and 3 × 3 = 9. This chapter explains the concept of factors, how to find factors, and how to determine prime factors of common digits.

Chapter 15 – Introduction to Graphs – Class – 8 – Notes

Graphical methods are effective in organizing and understanding data. Various graphical methods are used, including:

  • Bar graphs for comparing among categories
  • Pie charts for comparing parts of a whole
  • Histograms for data presented in intervals
  • Line graphs for data changing continuously over time
  • Linear graphs for representing unbroken lines

Chapter 16 – Playing with Numbers – Class – 8 – Notes

Numbers play a significant role in our daily lives, from measuring quantities with money to quantifying different things around us. The number system includes various types of numbers, such as integers, whole numbers, and natural numbers, based on convenience and requirements. This chapter provides an understanding of different types of numbers used in the number system.
