Rational numbers are numbers that are involved in many mathematical applications, such as addition, subtraction, and multiplication, and are inherently closed under many mathematical processes.
Chapter 2 – Linear Equations in One Variable – Class – 8 – Notes

The simplification of these equations, which are formed by expressions, can be done by bringing the equation into linear form through suitable techniques such as equating the expressions by multiplication.
